OPEN HOUSE: Kindergarten Tuesday, 9/22, 5:30-6:30 PM; Grades 1-5 Tuesday, 9/29, 5:30-6:15 and 6:15-7 PM. This year the presentations will be offered 2 separate times to assist parents with time conflicts. Teachers will send home notes to determine which session time the parents will attend.
PICTURE DAY: Wednesday, 9/23.
APPLEFEST: Friday, October 2, 5:30-7 PM. A coordinator is needed for the festival. Roxanne Scully will be the coordinator for the Silent Auction, and Ali Marchildon will assist her. This year the PTO will focus on putting the "apple" back in "Applefest". If you are interested in helping, please contact Roxanne Scully.
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL and WALK TO SCHOOL DAY: Wednesday, October 7. Leslie Noble secured a grant for Champlain to help provide funds for this program. SR2S and Walk to School Day will help publicize the safe routes and provide additional information regarding the bus routes available. Volunteers are needed to help organize groups in each neighborhood. Police officers will also be provided to assist with the additional pedestrian traffic.
PIZZA: Be on the lookout for a pizza form, coming home soon in a child's backpack near you. First pizza sale will be Tuesday, September 22nd. We're going with Mama Mias for the first sale.
FUNDRAISING: Goodsearch is a search engine that will donate 1 cent for every search made through this engine.
Kathy Rahill will coordinate a "Champlain Elementary School" t-shirt.
CHAIRS/VACANCIES: A PTO Council Rep. is needed. This person will attend meetings with representatives from all of the Burlington PTO representatives. Please contact Jessica Nordhaus if interested.
PARENT WORKSHOPS: Melissa will present next month.
CLASS PARENTS/GRADE CHAIRS: Will be discussed further at October PTO meeting.

PTO MEETING: Our last PTO meeting was held Wednesday, September 9, 6 - 8 pm, Learning Center (note subsequent meetings will be held the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 6-8pm in the Learning Center). FIRST STEPS IN MUSIC: First Steps in Music, Music Education Classes for Young Children, Fall 2009 Classes - Registration is starting for the fall session of First Steps in Music™ program held at Champlain Elementary School from March through May of 2009. These interactive music classes, designed for young children, birth to pre-Kindergarten, and their parents/caregivers, are organized by the Champlain Elementary School PTO.
