PIZZA SALE PICK UP IS TODAY, 4:30-5:30 at the school. Forgot to order yours? Contact Jenny Breckenridge (jennybreck@burlingtontelecom.net) to see if there are extras or sign up for next month's pizza fundraiser.
KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE: Tonight, Tuesday, 9/22, 5:30-6:30 PM. Kindergarten parents, please stop by the PTO table to learn more about what we do and see how you can get involved.
PICTURE DAY: Tomorrow, Wednesday, 9/23! If you wish to order a package of photos of your child(ren), remember to send in your Ambient Photography order form and payment in the envelope that went home last week. All photos must be ordered and paid for on picture day. Please note that the envelope has been labeled with your child's name and class on it! All students will receive a class picture at no charge, regardless of whether their family orders a photo package. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather so Ambient can shoot the photos outside.
CURRICULUM NIGHT, GRADES 1-5: Tuesday, 9/29, 5:30-6:15 and 6:15-7 PM. This year, presentations will be offered twice so that parents with more than one child at Champlain can participate more fully in classroom presentations. Many thanks to our great teaching staff who are willing to accommodate families in this way. Please watch for a note from your child's teacher asking you to rsvp for a particular session--your response will help teachers anticipate attendance that night.
URGENT: APPLEFEST VOLUNTEERS AND SILENT AUCTION DONATIONS NEEDED! We urgently need donations, large and small, for upcoming APPLEFEST, Friday, October 2, 5:30-7 PM. Please simply send a note to Roxanne Scully (scullys@mac.com) providing the title/description of your donation, your name and phone. No item to small (or big) and can include stuff (eg. An ipod, a wheelbarrow, etc.) or services (eg. Wash car, sailing lesson, etc.). Don't be shy about asking local businesses you frequent to donate items as well. This is the biggest PTO fundraiser of the year--in 2008 we raised over $5,000 to support student learning and activities!!
We are also looking for volunteers to help coordinate dinner (turkey dogs, tofu dogs, veggie sticks, cole slaw and of course apples) or an outdoor event or game. Look for sign up sheets at school or contact Vivian Esparza (vivian@bugleg.com or 862-7041) if you are able to help.
WALK TO SCHOOL DAY: Wednesday, October 7. Music, art and prizes for all walkers and bikers! Volunteers are still needed to help organize walking/biking groups in some neighborhoods. Police officers will also be provided to assist with the additional pedestrian traffic. Contact Leslyn Hall (leslyn.hall@gmail.com) if you can lead a walking school bus or help at school that day.
FUNDRAISING: Goodsearch, powered by Yahoo, is an internet search engine that will donate 1 cent to Champlain Elementary for every search you make. All you need to do is designate Champlain Elementary as your charity of choice and search away! And while you're there, check out Goodshop, which will donate a percentage of online shopping sales back to Champlain as well. Let friends and family members know, too, and consider setting Goodsearch as your default search engine. It's an easy, informative way to raise money for the school.
CHAIRS/VACANCIES: A PTO Council Rep. is needed. This person will attend meetings with representatives from all of the Burlington PTO representatives. Please contact Jessica Nordhaus (864-7658 or jnordhaus@msn.com) if interested.
