MATH NIGHT & POTLUCK DINNER:  In lieu of November's regularly scheduled PTO meeting, the PTO will host a family math event and potluck dinner on Wednesday, November 11th. Burlington district math teacher leader, Penny Stearns, has organized an evening for children to lead their parents through some challenging Bridges activities. Please come to the library with your child during the following time slots:

5:30-6:00 Parents and children of Kindergarten & grade 1

6:15-6:45 Parents and children of grades 2 & 3

7:00-7:30 Parents and children of grades 4 & 5

When you are not playing math games, you are invited to gather in the cafeteria for a potluck dinner with your children's friends and their families. Bring a dish to share! The PTO will provide drinks, ice cream, and good company.

CUB SCOUTS ARE BACK: Now that soccer season is over, we are starting Cub Scouts again! Cub Scout Pack 555 (boys 1st through 5th) is having meetings the second Thursday of each month at Champlain Elementary. The meetings are from 5:15pm to 7pm with pizza included! Our first meeting is this Thursday, November 12th, and the theme will be Rockets and Airplanes. Parents, of course, are invited. Please contact rbeste@yahoo.com for more information, or online at champlainpto.org/cubscouts.html

PTO FUNDRAISING (So Far):  You may be wondering how all these PTO fundraisers are faring.  You may also be thinking, “What does the PTO do with all this cash?” Check out this sampling of good news from Karen Hunt our treasurer:

The most recent pizza fundraiser earned us $400, and we made $370 on the first pizza fundraiser. Applefest is the grand-daddy of fundraisers, pulling in $6,000!

With that money the PTO granted each classroom teacher $50 to spend on classroom supplies.  So far we have reimbursed teachers $750 for items such as books, legos, prizes for classroom reward systems, math manipulatives, art supplies, a boom box, a printer, and even goldfish (the swimming type, not the crackers!).  We have spent $850 to purchase two science kits for Ms. Sikora-Cain's third grade classroom so they can use the science curriculum that is being developed in Ms. Cowell's and Ms. Patrick's classroom. Nice work everyone!  More updates to follow.

RAMPING UP: Our new ramp, making the front of the school accessible to all our children and families, will be ready in another two weeks (or so). Thanks to everyone for their patience.

If you have any items you would like listed on future PTO e-notices or you would like to be removed from our e-mail list contact Gary Causer at causerg@burlingtontelecom.net.  Talk to you next
