LEADERSHIP & PARENTSHIP CONFERENCE:
Join us Next Tuesday, April 13 for a conferencein Montpelier on family engagement in Vermont schools: "Leadership and 'Parentship' for 21st Century Schools: Making the Transformation Happen" The Parent Information and Resource Center (PIRC) is excited to announce this statewide conference, which is open to parents, teachers, administrators, school boards and community members. People are encouraged to attend in teams from one School District or Supervisory Union, but individual registrations will be accepted.Find more information under 'upcoming events' at www.pircvermont.org. Leslie and several parents from the PTO will be sharing abut the process Champlain has gone through this year in one of the morning workshops. Cost is $40 per person and includes lunch. PTO MEETING (TIME CHANGE):
Next week's PTO meeting (Wed., 4/14) will start at 6:30 pm, immediately following the 3rd-5th grade music concert. The meeting will happen in the library and will run until 8pm. UNIFIED SPORTS AT CHAMPLAIN:
Champlain is pleased to announce that we will be the first school in our district to have a UNIFIED Sports Program. UNIFIED is a program that offers sports opportunities and the chance to be part of a competitive sports team to children with disabilities and other students who may not have previously taken part in competitive sports. A UNIFIED team consists of an equal number of athletes with and without disabilities. UNIFIED athletes play a variety of seasonal sports, have weekly practices and have the opportunity to interact and compete with other UNIFIED teams from throughout Vermont.
Our Spring sport will be Bocce Ball, and practices will be held every Friday from 2:45 to 3:45 here at Champlain. Anyone age 8 or over is invited to join and there is no cost to participate! Students who attend the afterschool program on Friday afternoons also can take part. Our first practice is this Friday, April 9 at 2:45. No prior experience with Bocce necessary.
