MULTI-CULTURAL DINNER (SAVE THE DATE):
Champlain Elementary's Annual MULTI-CULTURAL DINNER & Haiti Benefit will be THIS Thursday May 6th from 5:30-7pm. This is your opportunity to celebrate international cuisine and dress. Bring your favorite dish, and be prepared to feast on food from around the world.
It is fitting to help our neighbors in Haiti during our Multi-Cultural dinner. A Burlington non-profit organization called The Vermont Medical Response Team is sending teams of Vermont doctors, nurses and counselors to bring medical supplies and expertise to Port Au Prince. Meg Frenzen from VMRT will give a brief talk and seven minute power point presentation about the work she and VMRT have done in Haiti. We will be collecting donations on behalf of VMRT at our Dinner. If you would like to help with this event contact Al Dworshak at aldog999@gmail.com.

A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE THE SCHOOL AND ALL CHAMPLAIN STUDENTS:
Congratulations to Dawn Moskowitz who is in Washington DC right now representing the state of VT at the 1st Annual Mom Congress Conference with 50 other mothers from across the nation who have made a difference in their community schools. The group had the chance to meet with Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as they convened to discuss educational reform. Dawn has been tireless in her efforts to help the Burlington School District as they transition to 21st century schools. She serves on the Board of the Burlington Schools Foundation, has helped rejuvenate and lead the CES PTO, advocates skillfully for school reform, family-school partnerships and socio-economic equity. Most recently, she has returned to graduate school to study educational policy and leadership.
