THE LAST PTO MEETING OF THE YEAR
The PTO will meet one last time this Wednesday, June 9th, 6-8pm in the library. Child care and pizza provided (maybe even some home-baked cookies). Agenda items include: filling the office of president, offer of matching grant funds for Americorps Vista/Parent Involvement Coordinator position, year-end Climate Committee report on projects and recommendations for strengthening our collaborative school community, volunteer software & handbook report, new teacher welcome, Step Up and June retreat/August meeting planning. VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST
In appreciation for everything you do for the school, please come enjoy the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast hosted by Champlain faculty and staff on Thursday, June 10th from 8-9 am in the Learning Center.
CHAMPLAIN UNIFIED TEAM
Congratulations and a big shout out to the Champlain Elementary School Unified Team who played in a statewide Bocce tournament at UVM last Friday. The Team came home with medals in both the 2-person and 4-person events in our age/level categories and had lots of fun. Champlain students who attended the competition were Katie Comerford-Joyce, Annabelle Edwards-Stoll, Eva Edwards-Stoll, Dylan Ploof, Damian Lyman, Dasha Jaentschke, Eric Ely and Zoe Moskowitz. Other Champlain students who played with the Unified Team this year included Ben Wood-Lewis, Hassan Jafar and Hibo Jafar. The Unified team is open to all students age 8 and over and there is no cost to participate! For information about joining the Unified Team next year, contact Laura Nugent at Champlain School.
SUMMER WRITING CLUB
Coming soon! We are going to have an informational ice cream social for parents and students to discuss a summer writing club open to all Champlain students. Students will be encouraged to write online and comment on other students' writings on our very own Young Writer's Project Champlain web site. Details will be posted to the blue note and to the school mailing list soon. Please encourage students to write/comment and connect with other students throughout the summer. It's free and fun! TIRE RECYCLING EVENT SUCCESS
Huge thanks to Noyes Automotive, Roxanne Scully, the Bloch/Esparza family and a whole crew of bakers who helped us raise almost $700 at Saturday's tire recycle event, BBQ and bake sale.
